Welcome to the CADAH’s website.

I want to congratulate Dr. Yvonne Kew and her team of Board of Directors for the excellent work they had done for the past year. I am honored to be elected as the president of CADAH for the year of 2013 to 2014. A new team of Board of Directors is elected (see below for the name list of board members). We are all very excited and enthusiastic to continue the legacy of CADAH in serving the CADAH community.

To current CADAH members,

We will continue to 1) strengthen our ties through networking, community services and social events; 2) advance our medical/dental knowledge through continued medical education (CME) seminars; 3) enrich clinical experience by sharing our respective expertise with each other; 4) improve patient care by more efficient communication using the new generation of digital media and technology. In the months to come, the schedules of CME events, social gatherings and community services activities will all be announced via email. We plan to update this website with healthcare related presentations, webinars and detailed information of clinical practices of each member. A Chinese version of CADAH website will be created as well. These will provide avenues for knowledge exchange among members, education of public with medical knowledge. Your participation and contribution is sincerely invited and encouraged.

Young doctors are the fresh blood of medical practices. My team will continue the endeavor of supporting young doctors through scholarship and mentoring programs. Your support of the program including participation of future new year fund-raising Galas will be sincerely appreciated.

To Non-CADAH members physicians, dentists or physician/dentist-in-training with Chinese heritage,

We invite you to join us as your local academic family. As the only Chinese American physician organization, we boast for our more than 250 lifetime members in metropolitan Houston covering various clinical disciplines. There are numerous benefits being a CADAH member including professional support of each other, increased referral, collegiality, building new and long lasting friendship, etc..  It will be fun and a rewarding experience to be part of this thriving organization.

To residents /citizens in the Asian/Chinese community

Our CADAH physicians/dentists are eager to be yours or your family’s first choice of physicians/dentists for any medical/dental needs from primary care to specialty services.. We will certainly provide the best care possible to help you and your family members. Other than our second to none services, most of our member offices or institutions offer the language services including the dialect of your choice to meet your medial needs. CADHA will provide regular health related seminars to local community and healthy life style consultant via newspapers,TV and radio stations. We look forward to meeting you through those events. Finally, I want to thank each CADAH members, for your passion in helping the sick, promoting healthy life style and wellbeing of the society, for your contribution in advancing medical treatment and improving healthcare delivery, for sharing your knowledge, love and spirit. President’s Message

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Happy Chinese New Year and to CADAH congratulations on our 20^th anniversary! Since its inception in 1993 CADAH has served to support community services by promoting collaborative relationships between Chinese American doctors/dentists and the greater Houston area. Needless to say, the growth and success of CADAH is to the credit of past presidents, officers, board of directors, and members. Thus, I am thrilled to commemorate this landmark and celebrate our 2013 Chinese New Year.

As a Chinese American, I know that the start of this year indicates what is to come. Based on the zodiac, a 12-year cycle of animals, this is the year of the snake. Interestingly, this prompted thoughts of the Rod of Asclepius or caduceus (one or two intertwined serpents, respectively), which as you know, are symbolic of medicine and healing. I pray that this year will bring special healing to all individuals in our community, country, and the world, in both life and spirit.

About 5 years ago, thinking it was a great bargain, I joined CADAH as a lifetime member. I now consider CADAH as my adopted family. From the first CME lecture through the present, I was always warmly welcomed – at every volunteer activity, social event, and board meeting. Thank you!

To date, we have surpassed 200 lifetime members and project continued growth. With the recent launching of our new website, members are able to join electronically. In the near future, opportunities for advertisements and special announcements will also be available. Further, to enhance physician and dental referrals and networking, CADAH members and the public will have access to all other members’ professional information. Through centralized communication, such as posting CME lectures, social events, and newsletters, this website will let us promote and build lasting professional and social interactions. I encourage everyone to visit the website and provide thoughts and recommendations.

An important objective of the CADAH organization is to support brilliant young professional students who will carry on our oath. Our new website has enabled us to receive donations toward the New Year Gala, our Scholarship Fundraising Event. To date, CADAH foundation has provided 116 scholarships to medical (96) and dental (20) students, with $56,500 dollars in total support. This year’s 2013 scholarship awardees will be announced and presented at our annual general assembly (AGA) meeting on April 27. For members and their spouses wishing to attend, attendance is free of charge. There will be a short academic lecture followed by a business meeting reporting to all new and continued members. This will be hosted by our president-elect, Dr. Jay Zhu and me. We hope to see you there!

In closing, CADAH is committed to advancing medicine, patient care, and providing support to our fellow colleagues and young professionals. May we all remain happy, healthy, safe, and prosperous.
